The Nigerian Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has extended the registration deadline for Data Controllers and Processors of Major Importance (DCMIs/DPMIs) from September 30, 2024, to October 31, 2024.

Effective from October 15, 2024, DCMIs/DPMIs will be restricted from engaging unregistered Data Processors, as mandated by the NDPC. Non-compliance with this requirement may result in penalties under the Nigerian Data Protection Act 2023, including fines of up to 2% of annual gross revenue.
