The Federal Capital Territory High Court has introduced new Civil Procedure Rules that will take effect on 3 March 2025, replacing the 2018 Rules.

The changes include electronic filings, virtual hearings, and expanded electronic service options. They also introduce alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, encouraging out-of-court settlements to reduce case backlog and improve judicial efficiency.

Legal practitioners, judges, and litigants should familiarise themselves with the new rules to ensure compliance and maximise the benefits of the procedural improvements.
