Leading Nigerian law firm, Templars announced the promotion of Sadiku (“Sadiq”) Ilegieuno to Partner in its Dispute Resolution Practice, effective 1 January 2018.
Sadiq who joined the firm in 2005, has a strong track record as both a trial and appellate lawyer. He has extensive experience in representing leading Nigerian and multinational businesses in connection with a wide variety of disputes. He has over the years represented such large corporates as Halliburton, Google, IHS Towers, Azura Power, Total and ExxonMobil in different courts and arbitral tribunals in Nigeria.
A highly regarded and dogged advocate, Sadiq was a member of the Templars team that represented Esso Exploration & Production Nigeria in a complex crude entitlement dispute with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, and won an over $2 billion arbitration award in favour of Esso.
He is one of the arrowheads of the Templars pro bono legal services initiative. He holds a Master of Laws from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Benin. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Nigeria Branch).
